So, this post is a little delayed (as I registered more than two weeks ago), but I finally decided on a fall marathon – the Philadelphia Marathon (November 20, 2011).
I am beyond excited, especially now that I’ve gotten back into a groove with my running. But, the race is seven months away, so my main focus is to not get so swept up in pushing myself that I fail to listen to my body if it’s trying to tell me something. Last year taught me that training for a marathon is completely different than training for a half in every way – the time commitment, the toll it takes on my body, and how it makes me want to eat everything in sight. It’s a long road.
But caution aside, I’m pretty pumped up! I’ve heard great things about this race, and I am looking forward to running my first marathon in my “hometown” (I grew up in West Deptford, NJ, just on the other side of the Delaware River from Philly) – through Penns Landing, South Street, the historic section, and by the Art Museum (though not up the stairs like Rocky).
What’s even better is that Tim and three of my good Atlanta friends have registered to run the marathon as well, and my dad has signed up to run the half.
